The highly anticipated Coldplay concerts in Abu Dhabi have led to a surge in hotel prices and fully booked accommodations this weekend. With four back-to-back performances by the British rock band, the emirate is experiencing a boom in both hotel stays and short-term rental bookings.

Hotel Prices Soar Amid Full Occupancy

Hotels in Abu Dhabi have reported a 30% increase in prices, with full occupancy expected this weekend. Fans attending Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour are turning to short-term rental properties in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai to find alternative accommodations.

Real estate company Allsopp & Allsopp noted that key areas in Dubai, such as Dubai Marina, Dubai Investment Park, Expo City, and locations along the route to Abu Dhabi, have reached 85% occupancy.

UAE Travel Searches Skyrocket

Travel company Expedia revealed a 335% surge in searches for UAE hotel stays in 2025 compared to the same period in 2023. This indicates a massive influx of visitors drawn by the concerts.

The band’s Music of the Spheres World Tour kicks off on Thursday, January 9, at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with additional shows on January 11, 12, and 14. Tickets sold out within minutes, with fans flying in from around the world to attend.

Trends in Short-Term Rentals

According to Lewis Allsopp, chairman of Allsopp & Allsopp, the trend mirrors previous events:
“In 2023, concerts by artists like Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran drove a 60% increase in short-term rental inquiries, particularly during Ed Sheeran’s Abu Dhabi performance, which boosted bookings across Dubai.”

Data shows that larger properties, such as two- and three-bedroom apartments, are in the highest demand as groups of fans opt for cost-effective shared accommodations.

Last-Minute Bookings in Dubai

Vinayak Mahtani, CEO of bnbme holiday homes, reported a surge in last-minute bookings, especially from international visitors staying in Dubai and commuting to Abu Dhabi for the concerts.

Popular Areas for Rentals in Dubai:

  • Downtown Dubai

  • Palm Jumeirah

“We’ve seen increased demand for beachfront properties like the Palm and larger units, including three- and four-bedroom apartments, penthouses, and villas. Most bookings are for three to four nights,” Mahtani explained.

He also noted interest from Russian visitors traveling during the Orthodox Christmas season.

Conclusion

The Coldplay concerts in Abu Dhabi have not only amplified hotel prices but also created a ripple effect across the UAE’s rental market. With high demand for accommodations in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the event showcases how global performances significantly impact the local hospitality and real estate sectors.
